Come, let’s go to the kitchen! It’s the year 2009. Anniina is handprinting fabrics on her kitchen table in Alaveteli. Otherwise, she wouldn’t get exactly what she wants. A strong-willed woman from Ostrobothnia knows this. The fabrics turn into home decor products and stuffed animals, one of which is Paapii—alternating between awake and asleep. The desire to create Finnish design with a joyful touch is strong. Anniina starts a blog and showcases her patterns. Feedback pours in, and buyers appear. The spark of creativity wins over the fear of entrepreneurship. PaaPii Design sees the light of day. Inspiration is found in the surrounding life: fascinating stories, traditions, and people. The enchanting nature, forest, and sea landscapes. The patterns are full of joy and color. They are designed like a child would—excitedly, without prejudice. We throw ourselves into it with wild abandon.

Hold my hand, let’s travel to Kokkola! It’s 2017. Now, we don’t sew in the kitchen anymore, but in our very own clothing factory. We make domestic and sustainable products. Clothes made from organic cotton. Made in Finland, down to the seams. Produced with solar energy. Today, Anniina still knows exactly what she wants. She gets excited about the new, but not alone. There are already many people at Paapii. Packages are sent across the seas. Along with clothes and fabrics, there are home decor products, pattern books, and much more. Time will tell where the path leads next. It might be winding and bumpy, but also full of excitement and surprising twists. We’ll walk it together with courage. Because dreams are meant to be sewn.

It was a needle, thread, and Central Ostrobothnian madness. It was said that creativity, responsibility, and Finnish men’s clothing shouldn’t be combined. Finsket did exactly that. And twice as well, so no one had anything to say. The spark of Finsket ignited in 2021—from a love for the unpretentious beauty of the Northern nature, its unique light, and the distinctive landscape of the mind. If Paapii is the joyfully unruly older sister, Finsket is the oddly ironic little brother. It doesn’t fear, but strives to stand out from the crowd. As the competition in the fashion business blows like a chilling northeast wind, Finsket stands proudly in support of domestic design and responsible clothing. It speaks little, but does a lot—fully or not at all.
