Purposes of Processing Personal Data
Young Finnish Design (YFD) processes designers’ personal data for the following purposes:
Competition Mailing List: We inform designers about design competitions, open calls and other opportunities that support their professional development.
Designer Database: We maintain information about designers’ skills and professional backgrounds to identify suitable designers for companies’ design challenges and collaboration opportunities, and to create new opportunities for emerging designers.
Competitions and Collaboration Projects: We organise design competitions and calls for designers, communicate with participants and applicants about related matters, and process information related to competitions and collaboration projects.
Data Processed and Its Sources
The data we process may include names, email addresses, design disciplines, skills, professional experience, portfolios, professional online profiles, and information related to participation in competitions and collaboration projects.
We obtain information directly from designers, through YFD’s activities and, where necessary, from publicly available professional sources.
Data Processing and Disclosure
YFD processes personal data for the purposes of managing the competition mailing list and designer database, organising competitions and facilitating collaboration projects. Depending on the purpose, processing is based on consent, a contract or legitimate interest.
YFD uses external service providers in its operations, including email communication and data management services. Designers’ personal data may be stored in these services, for example, to manage the competition mailing list and organise competitions.
A designer’s portfolio and the information provided in their application may be shared with the company participating in a competition or designer call for the purpose of processing applications and evaluating participants.
YFD does not sell personal data.
Data Retention and Security
Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose, potential collaboration projects or legal obligations. Data is reviewed and deleted as needed when there is no longer a valid reason to retain it.
Access to personal data is restricted to individuals who need it for their work. YFD implements appropriate measures to protect the data.
Your Rights
You have the right to access and correct your personal data and to request its deletion or restriction of processing. You may also request that the processing of your data be stopped where permitted by law, and withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent.
